Langley College Programs

Home Support / Resident Care Attendant Certificate

In less than 7 months you can be working in a well-respected profession with excellent pay and benefits. This full time program is divided between classes at Langley College and clinical in home support and complex care facilities. As our population ages, the need for skilled caregivers is steadily growing. As a result Home Support / Resident Care Attendants are now highly employable. Graduates find work in home support, senior and residential facilities, hospitals, and private care.

Early Childhood Education Certificate

If you love working with preschool aged children, this is the program for you. In less than one year you can be teaching preschool, working in a daycare, or starting your own child care business. Langley College has been teaching Early Childhood Education for 25 years and our graduates are in demand. Register for full time classes, or take the program part time and work as an assistant teacher while you learn. Langley College works with over 100 child care centres to place students in optimum practicum sites for their learning.

Early Childhood Education Diploma

Complete your ECE Certificate and join the Early Childhood Education Diploma program. In less than one year of part time studies you can graduate with an Infant and Toddler Certificate and a Special Needs Certificate. Take courses in the evenings and work while you learn. Our practicum program provides students with one-on-one mentoring with a facilitator throughout the duration of their practicum. There are many jobs in these specialities and not enough graduates to fill the employment opportunities.

Montessori Early Childhood Certificate

Learn to teach the Montessori method. Montessori creates environments where preschool children can reach their highest potential – emotionally, physically and intellectually. Montessori education is growing in BC. Take evening classes and work while you learn. Students attend classes at Langley College and labs are held in a fully equipped Montessori classroom. Students who hold a valid ECE Certificate will receive credit for 2 courses and 1 practicum towards the Montessori program.

ece workshop series for family child care and school age child care

Are you a responsible adult working in family child care or school age child care? This series of 8 workshops meets the Child Care Licensing Regulation training requirements for responsible adults to complete 20 hours of training in health, safety, nutrition, child growth and guidance. Participants receive a certificate of attendance for each workshop. Early Childhood Educators may use the workshops towards the 40 hours of professional development required to renew their ECE Certificates.

Priorities Ece Conference

Attend our 9th PRIORITIES Conference on November 5, 2008. Choose 2 workshops from 4 exciting options. Enjoy a break between workshops for refreshments and networking with friends and colleagues. Receive a Langley College Certificate of Attendance which can be used towards the hours of professional development required to renew your ECE Licence to Practise. Indesign

Learn how to create professional looking brochures, newsletters, posters, flyers and magazines. InDesign Creative Suite is a very powerful software program that combines expert layout with dynamic creative effects. You will be amazed at the results! Our instructor has been designing and editing magazines for over 20 years. She has worked in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker and Quark Express. This short course is offered over five 2½ hour afternoons.
